Film producer Darryl F. Zanuck was born September 5, 1902 in Wahoo, Nebraska. He co-founded 20th Century Studios (which later merged with Fox), and produced the first motion picture with sound, "The Jazz Singer." Despite his success in the movie industry, Zanuck famously made the incorrect prediction that television would never catch on.
