You're Not Dumb—"Norman Doors" Fool Everyone

How often have you pulled on a door when you should have pushed it? It happens to everyone, because those door are designed to be confusing. These are called "Norman doors," doors designed to tell you to do the opposite of what you're supposed to do, or doors that give the wrong signal and require a sign to correct it. Norman doors lack something designers call human-centered design, which is design that considers discoverability and feedback to help the user.
