Despite how it sounds, a pastafarian isn't the name of someone who really likes pasta, but a person who subscribes to the Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster. It's a religion that is both serious and not. Created by Bobby Henderson in 2005, the religion was a response to the Kansas State Board of Education ruling to allow intelligent design to be taught in schools. Henderson created his satirical religion to resemble intelligent design in structure, but paired it with absurd details like the deity "His Noodly Appendage." Since its creation, the religion has been legally recognized by some countries, including the Netherlands.
