A small genetical engineering company called Suneris has created a product called Vetigel that may one day save many lives. This futuristic gel can seal deep, wounds and stop bleeding within just a few seconds of injection. The new medical technology is made from algae, and, as stated on the Suneris website, "instantly achieves hemostasis and creates a strong fibrin clot." The gel is sterile, bio-absorbable, biocompatible, appropriate for internal and external use, and involves no manual pressure among other revolutionary traits. The CEO and co-founder of Suneris invented the framework of Vetigel when he was only 17 years old. As of early 2016, Vetigel is approved for use by veterinarians on animals.
