The World's First Models

The first models were not women on a catwalk; they were men out on the town. During the 1800s in France, tailors would dress men in fine clothing and send them to upscale Parisian hangouts to sell their merchandise. At the end of the day, the models (then called "mannequins") would return the clothing to the tailor.
