The Special Ritual Done At Magicians' Funerals

The International Brotherhood of Magicians is the world's largest organization for the magical arts. When a member of this organization dies, a very special and intimate ritual is performed at the funeral: it is called the Broken Wand Ceremony. This ritual is performed at the request of the family, and is not necessary for the death of a magician. During the ceremony, a wand (the symbol of power and mystery) is broken, at which point becoming just a meaningless object. The broken pieces of the wand are then given to the family. The practice is non-denominational and can be carried out in a number of ways.
