One day in the future, you may be able to spray paint the roof of your home with solar power. New technology from the University of Toronto and IBM Canada's Research and Development Centre has created a way to spray solar cells onto flexible surfaces. This development is possible by "using miniscule light-sensitive materials known as colloidal quantum dots (CQDs)." This invention may bring cheap and easy-to-manufacture solar panels to everyday life. The system, called sprayLD, can be printed onto flexible film that can coat any weirdly shaped surfaces-from outdoor furniture to an airplane wing.
