Why Do We Wear High Heels?
Ancient Egyptians and Greeks may have been the first groups of people to wear high-heeled shoes. The first modern heels, however, were worn by horse-riding men to keep their feet in stirrups. Many etymologists believe the word "wealthy" came from the term "well heeled," as shoes were a status symbol as early as the 1500s.
