Plastic is becoming a bigger and bigger problem for the environment. Plastic production has increased by 20 times in the last 50 years, and it is expected to double in the next 20 years. A huge chunk of that plastic ends up in the oceans-an alarmingly huge chunk. Reports estimate that humanity is dumping the equivalent of one garbage truck's load of plastic into the ocean every minute. At this rate, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by the year 2050. A big contributor to this environmental crisis is the rise of single-use plastic products, items made of plastic that are used only once before being discarded.
