The Elephant Festival in Laos

In 2007, the province of Sainyabuli created the elephant festival to celebrate these endangered creatures. Sainyabuli is home to the largest population of working elephants in Laos. The country of Laos itself is in fact known as the land of a million elephants. This festival is celebrated every year in a new location, and 70 elephants participate in order to crowned elephant of the year.
