At its peak, the Bracken Bat Cave is home to 270 tons of bats, which is the largest congregation of not only bats, but of any warm-blooded animal in the world. The Mexican free-tailed bats that frequent the cave are migratory, and head to the Bracken Cave in spring to rear their pups.
