Being dead doesn't necessarily mean it's the end. It's a controversial statement and concept, but there have been actual cases of people who have come back to life after being clinically dead. One example is West Virginian citizen Velma Thomas, who suffered cardiac arrest in her home. Her heart stopped several times on the way to the hospital as paramedics worked on her. Once she got to the hospital, she remained clinically dead (a type of death more technically known as circulatory death) for 17 hours while doctors worked on her. Doctors tried a new technique at the time to simulate hypothermia, and it worked-Velma came back to life.
