Nintendo Is Older Than You Might Think

When you think about card games, Nintendo is likely not what comes to mind first. But that's exactly how the world-famous gaming company began. Nintendo's original name was Nintendo Koppai, and it was founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi. Yamauchi was a popular maker of Hanafuda playing cards-handcrafted cards that were decorated with illustrations instead of numbers. The company eventually manufactured toys as well as cards, and in the 1970s, it entered the video game industry.
