NASA's Fermi Telescope Finds The First Gamma-Ray Binary Beyond Our Galaxy

Binary star systems—that is, two stars that orbit one another—are pretty rare. Gamma-ray binary systems, which are made up of either black holes or neutron stars and radiate most of their energy in gamma rays, are even rarer.
