This news may disappoint some women: doctors recommend women drink less alcohol than men. Studies have shown that moderate amounts of alcohol every day may actually be good for your health. However the term "moderate" varies in men and women. The recommended amount of alcohol for men is no more than two drinks a day, and for women, no more than one drink a day. One reason for this, is that alcohol is known to increase the chance for developing cancer, especially breast cancer. A man may lower his risk of developing diabetes and heart disease by drinking two alcoholic beverages per day. But a woman's chance actually increase after just one drink.
