Only about 1-2% of the world's population is redheaded, although some regions (such as Scotland and Ireland) have higher concentrations. Though myths like the vampire idea from Greek mythology exist, plenty of unique truths exist about gingers. For example, redheads require 20% higher doses of anesthesia. In addition, the same chromosome that makes hair red also reduces immunity from the sun's UV rays. Hence why many redheads have such fair skin and sensitivity to sunlight.
