It's a popular claim of conspiracy theorists—if we ever found proof of alien life, NASA and the U.S. government would never tell the public about it. Who's to know they haven't found aliens already? Well, during the space race of the 1960s, NASA seriously considered what they should do if they were to contact aliens, since they believed it was a real possibility within the next decade (ah, such innocent days).
