You might think that the deepest place on Earth would also be the most pristine, but, not the case. While the Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the world's oceans, it's also extremely polluted. According to a study in the journal Nature, the trench is actually "operating as a potential sink for the pollutants and litter that are discarded into the seas."
