Halley's Comet

Halley's Comet

Edmond Halley was born November 8, 1656. Halley correctly theorized that periodic comet sightings over the previous 200 years were related to the same comet's orbit, and predicted that it would return again in 1758. Halley died 16 years before his prediction came true, but the comet still became known as Halley's Comet. Its last appearance near Earth was in 1986, and the next one will be in 2061. Learn where it goes when it isn't visible in our skies.
