A study of nearly 3,000 fourth, fifth, and sixth graders links a midday nap with greater academic achievement. The findings show a connection between 30 to 60 minutes of sleep in the middle of the day and higher IQ; greater happiness, self-control, and grit; and fewer behavioral problems. The higher IQ finding was particularly evident in sixth graders, scientists report in the study of 10- to 12-year-old children in China.
