Incredible Ancient Artifacts

The world’s ancient civilizations might be long gone, but they left behind traces of their time on Earth. These incredible ancient artifacts take a range of forms, with archaeologists unearthing everything from tiny tokens and pieces of jewelry, to buildings or even whole cities. Some of them teach us more about the civilizations that they came from, others about specific individuals, and all of them teach us more about who we are and our origins.

This playlist looks at some of the most incredible ancient artifacts that have been discovered to date. Some of them played a practical role, others had a totemic or mystical purpose, and there are a few whose purpose to our ancient ancestors we can only guess at. All of them have the power to make your hair stand on end, and to bring the ancient world that little bit closer to the modern one.
